Frank smashes Santa Dash target in festive fundraiser for blood cancer research 🎅❤️

A long‑standing supporter of blood cancer research and patient care has once again gone the extra mile – this time dressed as Santa.

Frank took part in the Santa Dash and raised an incredible £3,058, smashing his original fundraising target of £1,000 in support of Merseyside Against Blood Cancers (MABC).

The festive run is part of a very special milestone for Frank. In December 2025, he will celebrate 40 years of fundraising dedicated to the fight against blood cancers – a cause that is deeply personal to him.

Frank’s fundraising journey began in memory of his mother‑in‑law, Muriel Gait, who was diagnosed with a blood disorder. Muriel received 14 years of outstanding care from the Royal Liverpool Hospital, before sadly passing away in 1985. Inspired by the treatment and dedication she received, Frank was determined to give something back.

He went on to establish The Haemanthus Fund, supporting vital research into blood cancers at the University of Liverpool. Frank chaired the group throughout its work, helping it to surpass all of its fundraising targets.

Frank is also a co‑founding trustee of Merseyside Against Blood Cancers. Through MABC, he has helped support the care and wellbeing of patients, alongside the staff and research scientists working in Liverpool’s world‑class institutions, including the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and the University of Liverpool.

Frank’s Santa Dash success is a powerful reminder of how community spirit, dedication and determination can help change lives – and he’s not done yet. With 40 years of fundraising on the horizon, Frank is determined to continue supporting blood cancer patients and research for many years to come.
